The park, between 11th and 12ths streets and bound by Madison, Jefferson and Adams streets, is the centerpiece of Hoboken’s efforts to mitigate the effects of heavy flooding events.
The state’s largest resiliency park — it’s also one of the largest resiliency parks in the country — will be able to detain up to 2 million gallons of stormwater during heavy rains to mitigate flooding in Northwest Hoboken.
Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla, city officials, Murphy and Menendez will be joined by Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise and two Hoboken students at the 11:30 a.m. event that is open to the public.
The park, renamed ResilienCity Park, cost roughly $50 million to build on land that had housed a chemical plant from 1922 until 2004. Construction began in September 2019 after the city purchased the property in 2016 for $30 million.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) kicked in $10 million and the Hudson County Open Space Trust Fund provided two grants totaling $1 million.
The ribbon-cutting Monday will be the second for the park.
City officials opened a portion of the park in late March and held a ceremony there in early April. The park’s amenities include a new multi-purpose athletic field, a basketball court that doubles as a stormwater detention basin, playground, open lawn space, water spray area and more.
A lucky Cash4Life ticket bought in Bergen County for Thursday’s drawing is worth $1,000 a week for the winner’s life.
The ticket was sold at 7-Eleven on Broadway in Fair Lawn and matched five balls, the New Jersey Lottery said Friday.
Thursday’s winning numbers were: 38, 46, 49, 50 and 59. The Cash Ball drawn was: 2. The winner can also opt for the $1 million cash option.
The odds of a $2 ticket matching five numbers and the Cash Ball to win $1,000 day for life are 21,846,048 to 1. The Fair Lawn ticket holder beat 7,282,016 to 1 odds to match five numbers.
Cash4Life tickets are sold in New Jersey, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Players select five numbers from a field of one through 60, and then select a Cash Ball from a field of one through four. Drawings are held at 9 p.m. daily.
A 22-year-old New Jersey man has been sentenced to 5 years in state prison after pleading guilty to distributing hundreds of videos containing child pornography, authorities said.
William Edson, of Mays Landing in Hamilton Township, will be registered as a sex offender and be on parole for the rest of his life after serving his prison term, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.
Authorities were notified in February 2022 of suspicious activities on the popular instant messaging platform Kik, the prosecutor’s office said. An investigation linked approximately 700 videos of child sexual abuse shared shared on the app to Edson, officials said.
The International Criminal Court said Friday that it has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on suspicion of war crimes because of his alleged involvement in abductions of children from Ukraine. The court said in a statement that Putin “is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population [children] and that of unlawful transfer of population [children] from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.” https://lookerstudio.google.com/s/sQVIMy-XbNQ https://lookerstudio.google.com/u/0/reporting/eaf80056-fef8-45b4-bb45-efc8d8350831/page/zCDJD https://lookerstudio.google.com/u/0/reporting/eaf80056-fef8-45b4-bb45-efc8d8350831 https://lookerstudio.google.com/u/0/reporting/db420544-5fad-45e2-905a-181cf64ef874/page/lFDJD https://lookerstudio.google.com/s/tZv0CvtIzvw https://lookerstudio.google.com/reporting/db420544-5fad-45e2-905a-181cf64ef874 https://lookerstudio.google.com/s/ihLVE9lLwgg https://lookerstudio.google.com/re
